Short profiles for all the presenters are provided below

Dickie Whitaker
CEO, Oasis LMF

Dickie Whitaker is the CEO and one of the founders of Oasis Loss Modelling Framework. He has also co-founded and works for The Lighthill Risk Network, FiNexus Ltd, Oasis Palm Tree Ltd, and the Oasis Hub. He has consulted on risk transfer mechanisms in several countries around the world and also for insurance and reinsurance companies in London.

Dr Claire Souch
Director, AWHA Consulting

Dr Claire Souch is an independent Catastrophe Risk Modelling and Management consultant with over 15 years of experience in natural catastrophe risk modelling and management for the reinsurance and insurance industry. She has previously worked for the Asia Risk Centre, SCOR, and Risk Management Solutions.

Johanna Carter
Business Analyst, Oasis LMF

Joh Carter is a Business Analyst at Oasis Loss Modelling Framework. She has a BSc in Mathematics from Durham University and an MSc in Financial Mathematics. She has over a decade of analytical experience, having previously worked for companies such as JP Morgan, Risk Management Solutions, and Dresdner Kleinwort.

Dr Ben Lloyd-Hughes
Data Scientist, IEA

Ben Lloyd-Hughes is a Data Scientist at the Institute for Environmental Analytics (IEA). He has a BSc in Physics as well as a PhD in Climate Physics. In his current role Ben produces proof-of-concept prototypes and demonstrators, providing tangible examples of how environmental data can add value to companies. Ben joined the IEA from the Walker Institute for Climate System Research where he researched extreme weather with particular reference to drought. In 2007, Ben co-founded EuroTempest Ltd which continues to supply weather analytics to the (re)insurance industry.

Ben Hayes
CIO, Oasis Palm Tree

Ben Hayes has served as the Chief Information Officer of Oasis Palm Tree for over 2 years. Ben has both a BA and Masters in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He has previously worked for companies such as Lloyd’s of London and Global Aerospace.

Mark Pinkerton
CTO, Oasis LMF

Mark Pinkerton is the Chief Technology Officer at Oasis Loss Modelling Framework.  He previously worked as a senior director for analytic software development at Risk Management Solutions for 10 years.

Paul Nunn
Head of Natural Catastrophe Modelling, SCOR

Paul Nunn has many years of experience in senior level catastrophe management positions, and is currently Head of Natural Catastrophe Risk Modelling at SCOR, and also a Non-Executive Director for Oasis. He is responsible for pricing catastrophe risk on inward business, and accumulation of catastrophe loss potential for natural hazard perils globally. In addition to this, Paul is also responsible for directing strategic Cat-platform system development to facilitate more efficient deployment of capital to support the catastrophe risk SCOR is exposed to.

Dr Peter Taylor
Former Director of Oasis LMF

The late Peter Taylor was the Director at Oasis Loss Modelling Framework for over 3 years. In his career, he had spent over 25 years working in the Lloyd's insurance market where he managed IT and loss modelling departments.  He previously worked as a research fellow at Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford, researching into risk and catastrophes and bioscience, and was previously Deputy Chairman and a co-founder of Lighthill Risk Network. He gained a DPhil at Magdalen College, Oxford in Quantum Theory.
